What happens to special needs young adults after High School?

Parents with moderately to profoundly involved kids need a readily available, full day program to maintain learned skills and provide a safe environment. Meeting this challenge is the purpose of  For The Exceptional’s Life Preparation Center

Supports and services provided in therapeutic settings to enable individuals to achieve, maintain, improve, or decelerate the loss of personal care, social or adaptive skills through focusing on the following 5 core objectives;

Personal Independence

 

Self-Care/Hygiene

Meal Planning/Food Preparation

Money Management

Nutrition

Self-Advocacy

Participating and becoming actively involved in decisions that are being made about their lives.

Use of computer technology

Opportunity to learn about the rights and responsibilities that come with being independent

Evaluation of social situations to facilitate appropriate, positive choices

Pro-Social Development

Creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships

Community outings and events

Recognizing feelings and identifying social cues

Guided communication in social environments

Using technology to communicate

Pre-Vocational Training

 

Preparation for the work force and or sheltered workshop

Teamwork/ Group participation

Appropriate use of time

Vocational Expectations

Community Involvement/ Awareness

 

Becoming a part of their broader community

Guided practice through social interaction

Shopping experiences for daily living needs

Community safety and awareness

Must be at least 18 years old

 

A Willingness to Participate

Program Fees

 

Application Fee: $25

Tuition: $25 Daily /$125 Weekly

The first week of tuition is non-refundable. The registration fee/tuition will also serve as a security deposit to secure participants space. Each participant’s tuition is paid on pre-paid weekly basis. ALL TUITION MUST BE PAID ON MONDAY, BEFORE CLOSE OF BUSINESS, OF THE WEEK IT IS DUE.
 

In-house Assessment: Insurance can be used to pay/ decrease assessment costs, theses cost are individually based.
